Pilmark & Nordisk Film Oscar-nominated

Søren Pilmark’s short film “Helmer & Son”, which is produced by Nordisk Film, has just been nominated in the category Best Short Film (Live Action).

“Helmer & Son” is Pilmark’s debut as a short film director. The experienced actor is quite overwhelmed: “This is absolutely fabulous! I am very, very happy and proud!”

The movie is produced by Nordisk Film’s Leila Vestgaard and René Ezra as a part of the company’s strategy to develop new talent. The director, producers and script writers behind “Helmer & Son” thus consist of newcomers in their respective fields in Danish film, firmly backed by Managing Director of Nordisk Film’s movie production Kim Magnusson, who is an Oscar-winner and three-time nominee himself.

Kim Magnusson says: “It is a great honor that Søren Pilmark has been nominated! At the same time, this is also a big compliment for the effort to develop new talent, which we in Nordisk Film have been working for in the past couple of years.”

“Helmer & Son” is about a man (Steen Stig Lommer), who receives a call from the nursing home in which his father has just been placed – very much against his will. The nursing home now cannot find him, and the family has to get together and look themselves and each other in the eye.
