Premiere of ”The Comedy Diet”
Thursday, August 28 at 21:00, Kanal 5 premieres a brand new kind of production from Nordisk Film TV – a “comedy documentary” about a comedian’s fight to lose 90 kilos.
“Comedy Kuren (The Comedy Diet)” is a new and original concept produced by Nordisk Film TV in Denmark for SBS TV (Kanal 5). It is a mix of documentary and comedy, which on one hand is deeply serious and contains a strong personal story, and on the other hand is full of humor.
The series is about Henrik Bruhn, a seriously overweight comedian, who has decided to lose 90 kilos and become a better comedian.
Are fat jokes still funny, when you’re skinny?
Henrik Bruhn realizes that his life is going in the wrong direction. He weighs 190 kilos, and his comedy routine consists of lame fat jokes. But then he receives help from the successful Danish comedy artist Anders “Anden” Matthesen.
Matthesen suggests that Henrik solves all his problems in one go by making a one-man-show about being overweight – then afterwards losing half his own body weight, and in the process making good comedy about his experiences. A year later, he must make a new show about having lost the weight.
The series follows Henrik Bruhn’s efforts for a year. Along the way, he receives help from a team of experts, who - besides Anders Matthesen – include a coach, a dietist and a doctor.
