On the 70 mm Festival, audiences get to experience epic movies such as ”Lawrence of Arabia”, "Baraka", ”2001: A Space Odyssey”, ”The Sound of Music”, ”Titanic”, "Cleopatra", ”Hamlet”, and ”Doctor Zhivago” like they’ve never seen them before!
The movies are shown in the original road show versions. This means that the screening is like a night at the theater: At first an overture meets the audience, before the curtain goes up and the movie starts. There is also an interval in the middle which is preceded and followed music.
Larger than life
For true movie buffs the format itself is an experience like no other. A 70mm version treats its audience to razor-sharp pictures and crystal clear sound, which – according to experts – trumps every other screening system. Apparently, it is an intensive, realistic, and almost three-dimensional experience to see a 70mm movie.
Nordisk Film’s Imperial Cinema in Copenhagen is the only cinema left in Denmark, which can still show movies in 70mm widescreen.
