"Terribly Happy" wins main award

Henrik Ruben Genz' new feature film won the "Grand Prix Crystal Globe" this weekend at the Karlovy Vary International Film Festival.
"Terribly Happy" had its world premiere at the festival, and has been very favorably received in trade magazines Variety and The Hollywood Reporter, who compare it to movies by the Coen brothers and David Lynch. The movie is produced by Fine & Mellow – one of Nordisk Film’s part-owned companies – and is distributed by Nordisk Film Distribution (international sales: TrusNordisk).

Karlovy Vary is categorized as an A-festival, and is considered among the top five festivals in Europe in the same category as Cannes, Berlin, Venice, and San Sebastian. The festival gets a lot of American attention and is visited by many Hollywood representatives.

It is the first time a Danish movie wins the Grand Prix at Karlovy Vary. The award comes with a cash prize of USD 30,000 to be split between director Henrik Ruben Genz and producer Thomas Gammeltoft.

"Terribly Happy" is based on a bestseller by Erling Jepsen, who is also the author of “The Art of Crying”, which was converted into the biggest movie in Denmark last year. The movie has its national premiere on October 24.
