PlayStation 2

SONY welcomed the new millennium by retiring the original PlayStation from 1994. Naturally they didn’t do so without introducing a new and much more powerful version of the world famous gaming console. Room was made for better graphics, better sound, more memory, and even a DVD-player. The only unimaginative thing about the new console was its name. It was called PlayStation2.

From one day to the other PS2 raised the standards for all consoles. With more than 1000 new titles each year there is no discussing the leading position of PS2. It is currently the biggest selling DVD-player in the Nordic region.

In the fall of 2004 PS2 was reborn in a smaller version. Slimmer and no bigger than a hardback book, the entertainment phenomenon was given a considerable facelift. The new PS2 is so discreet that not even the worst of moms will mind its presence in the living room. As a consequence no less than every fifth family in Scandinavia owns a PlayStation console.

At Nordisk Film we are proud to have contributed to the PlayStation fairytale. It has been one of the greatest events in the entertainment industry for many years. And the adventure is far from over.
