Super 16

Super 16 is an alternative film education. It is an association of young filmmakers, run by the filmmakers themselves. There is no headmaster and no administration. The name Super 16 refers to the film type Super 16mm, and the fact that every class consists of 8 directors and 8 producers. That makes 16 people who does what they do in a “super” way.

The association receives no government funding. It does, however, receive help from private funds and from the established movie environment. Since 1999 when the association was founded Nordisk Film has put studios, equipment and editing facilities at the disposal of Super 16. Besides that we also support Super 16 by direct funding.

The Nordic countries house a lot of film talent. But the production of movies is costly and thus new talent often face great difficulties trying to make it onto the big screen. For us at Nordisk Film it is vital to present the aspiring talents with better possibility to gain a foothold. We support Super 16 with the hope that even more filmmakers will grow wings.

Apply for admission at Super 16 if you are ambitious and really want to direct or produce movies. It takes commitment and quite a bit of experience. But don’t let that frighten you. The dream is alive.
