VideoMarathon is an annual film competition held in Denmark since the year 2000. The contestants are handed a video camera, a theme and has to produce a short film within 48 hours.
Everybody who ever tried to make a movie knows that preparation and financing can take forever. Therefore Nordisk Film and True Stories APS launched VideoMarathon. That way we make sure more movies are made.
The philosophy behind VideoMarathon is simply to get going. The concept is to provide the necessary equipment and leave everything else to the young filmmakers of tomorrow.
In other words VideoMarathon is your opportunity to make your own movie. You will be the scriptwriter, the director and the editor. The completed movie will be judged by a professional jury. The winner is awarded DKK 100.000 earmarked for the production of a feature film.
VideoMarathon was held in Norway for the first time in 2005. Nordisk Film supports VideoMarathon by providing the facilities for editing. We do it because we believe in new talents, crooked ideas and movies that dare being different.
We encourage everybody with a wish to make it in the movie business to participate in the contest. For further information please have a look at www.videomarathon.dk for Denmark and www.videomarathon.no for Norway.
