The red studios in Valby are a trademark of Nordisk Film. And that is in spite of the fact that it all began in open air. The first movies, which Nordisk Film's founder, Ole Olsen, shot in the allotment garden all took place on outdoor stages.
But from 1908 studios were built. The world’s oldest film studio – Studio 2 – was constructed in 1910 and stands fully functional to this day.
The studios in Valby have been the framework for quite a lot of Danish film history. The first ever Danish sound film “The Vicar of Vejlby” was shot here, that goes for the first ever Danish movie in colour “Kispus.” And a long range of national gems for TV saw the light of day at our compound – most famously “Matador” and “Huset på Christianshavn”.
Today the Valby facilities are used only for shooting television programmes, whilst some of the feature film productions and commercials have moved to the modernized studios in Risby.
It is also in Risby our gigantic wardrobe is housed. Here you can find costumes ranging back to the era of silent movies and all the way up to present day.
All our studios can be rented and will accommodate every specific kind of need.
Furthermore we rent out all necessary equipment for shooting films, TV and commercials. We do that through our company Euro Broadcast Hire.
