Nordisk Film has made a first look arrangement with Fluid Film’s Nina Leidersdorff for her upcoming slate of films budgeted between $2 and $5 mill. Nordisk Film will take Nordic distribution rights and an equity position against guaranteeing minimum 10% of the budget for the films selected.
Fluid Films, Inc. was established in 2004 by Nina Leidersdorff, a Danish national and recent graduate of AFI. She produced “THE LAST FULL MEASURE”, directed by Alexandra Kerry, who also serves on the board of Fluid Films. “THE LAST FULL MEASURE” was selected for screening at Cannes in 2004 and at Sundance in 2005.
Nina Leidersdorff; “Fluid Films was set up to produce films targeted at American audiences, but also drawing on our extensive network in Europe to contribute with talent as well as European sensibilities and financing, ensuring marketability both in the U.S. and abroad of our projects. On SOLSTICE, working with Nordisk Film and Storm Ltd. of Iceland has secured 50% of the budget which is a great starting point for any American producer.”
Fluid Films, Inc. has a slate of films in development, which include;
SOLSTICE, a supernatural thriller written by Ernst Gossner and Clemens Aufderkamm and to be directed by Gossner. A young American couple go to Europe to join friends for a week-end in the Alps celebrating summer solstice. The shortest night of the year turns out to be the longest in their life.
NO DARK THINGS, a children’s thriller written by A. Tad Chamberlain. No director attached. Eleven-year old Tommy discovers a portal to the future in his bedroom closet. It takes him forty years into the future where he meets a psychotic killer, only to realize that the killer is actually himself, forty years older.
EL MACHITO, a drama written and to be directed by Alonso Filomeno Mayo. A former top level soccer player, whose recklessness, temper and attitude got him banished from playing has a hard time adjusting to his new life as a talent scout. His boss gives him an impossible ultimatum; travel to Peru and sign up Claudio Quezada, the hottest young soccer player around, or he’s out. Ray fails, but discovers a talented young player called El Machito, whose recklessness, temper and attitude is about to get him kicked off the team. Ray knows his big chance for redemption when he sees it...
Kim Magnusson, Managing Director of Film Production for Nordisk Film; “Nina is a very talented producer, whom I was happy to support on her AFI film “THE LAST FULL MEASURE”. We look forward to continue developing our relationship.”
Lars Hermann, Head of co-production; “We are capitalizing on our strengths in production, distribution and facilities to secure films with a potential in the Nordic territory. Nina is a valuable partner.”
The first look deal, negotiated at the Berlin Film Festival, runs for 2005 and 2006 an option to renew.
