Oscar nods to “Land of Mine”

“Land of Mine”, Martin Zandvliet’s award winning and critically acclaimed film produced by Nordisk Film, has been nominated for an Acadamy Award in the Best Foreign-Language Film category. 

The Oscar Acadamy made the nominations public on Tuesday January 24. 
“Land of Mine” is produced by Mikael Rieks from Nordisk Film Production and has gone from strength to strength at film festivals all over the world winning upwards of 30 different prizes. 

“Land of Mine” takes place in post World War II Denmark. A group of german POWs are extradited to the Danish authorities and send to the West Coast where they are ordered to remove more than two million land mines placed along the shore by the Germans. With their bare hands, crawling in the sand, the boys are forced to do the deadly task led by Danish captain Carl Leopold Rasmussen, excellent portraied by actor Roland Møller. 

The film is sold to countries around the world and is distributed in the US på Sony Pictures Classic. 

Nordisk Film is excited by the nod from Oscar. It is the second year in a row that a film produced by Nordisk Film’s in-house production company is nominated for an Acadamy Award. Last year, Tobias Lindholm’s “A War” was in the Oscar race. 

The Academy Award show will take place on Sunday, February 26. The other four films nominated in the Best Foreign-Laungage Film category are: “A Man Called Ove” (Swedish, co-produced by Nordisk Film), The Salesman (Iran), “Tony Erdmann” (Germany) and “Tanna” (Australia).
