Last night, screenwriter Anders Fridthiof August received the film- and television industry's biggest talent award, The Nordisk Film Award. He receives the award as a part of Nordisk Film's commitment to enhance talent development in Denmark.

Anders August is known for his work on the films "Camping", "Applaus", "Superclassico" and the Oscar nominated short film "The Pig". Last night he was honored in the Imperial theater as winner of the Nordisk Film Award 2011.

"The industry has welcomed Anders August with open arms and will not let go of him. He is really one of those persons we believe will help bring Danish film into a bright future." says Thomas Heinesen, president of the award committee and director of production and development in Nordisk Film.

It is the 15th time that the Nordisk Film Award is given, but it is only the second time that it goes to talent rather than firmly established names in the industry. This comes as a result of Nordisk Film's commitment to enhance talent development in Denmark.

The Nordisk Film Award is annually awarded by the Nordisk Film Foundation. Besides the glory, the winner receives a money prize equal to Nordisk Film's age times 1000 DKK – 105,000 this year.
