Cast announced for The Absent One

Zentropa has just announced part of the cast for the upcoming thriller THE ABSENT ONE, the second instalment in the Department Q franchise based on the bestselling books by Jussi Adler-Olsen.

As previously stated, Nikolaj Lie Kaas (ANGELS & DEMONS, 2009) and Fares Fares (SAFE HOUSE, 2012 and ZERO DARK THIRTY, 2013) will reunite as Carl and Assad for the THE ABSENT ONE. Added to the cast are acclaimed actors Pilou Asbæk and David Dencik.

With leading roles in critically acclaimed features such as Lindholm and Noer's R (2010) and Lindholm's hostage drama A HIJACKING (2012) as well as significant parts in TV series such as BORGEN (2010-2013) and THE BORGIAS (2011-), Danish actor Pilou Asbæk has rapidly become one of the most recognized actors in his home country. In THE ABSENT ONE, Asbæk will be joined by his fellow actor from THE BORGIAS, David Dencik, who besides his career in Scandinavian cinema has given notable performances in a number of international films including TINKER, TAILOR, SOLDIER, SPY (2011), THE GIRL WITH THE DRAGON TATTOO (2011) and he will next be seen in THE HOMESMAN (2014) and Susanne Bier's SERENA (2013).

Director Mikkel Nørgaard, who also directed the first film in the upcoming franchise, THE KEEPER OF LOST CAUSES (2013), will direct THE ABSENT ONE with a script written by praised scriptwriter duo Nikolaj Arcel and Rasmus Heisterberg (THE GIRL WITH THE DRAGON TATTOO, 2009 and A ROYAL AFFAIR, 2012).

Shooting is set to begin later this month, on September 23rd.
