MINI AND THE MOZZIES is directed by Jannik Hastrup and Flemming Quist Møller, the team behind some of the most treasured films in Scandinavian animation history. Together they directed BENNY'S BATHTUB (1971) and A TALE OF TWO MOZZIES (2007), the latter also screened in the Generation KPlus section at Berlin International Film Festival in 2008.

With more than 14 animated features under his belt and as the director of some of the most beloved animated children films, Hastrup has become an institution in Danish cinema. Hastrup has also directed classic animation films such as CIRCLEEN (created in 1957 and later on brought to the big screen as CIRCLEEN – CITY MICE (1998) and CIRCLEEN – MICE AND ROMANCE (2000)), BENNY’S BATHTUB (1971), SAMSON & SALLY (1984) and WAR OF THE BIRDS (1990), to mention a few.

Flemming Quist Møller is also one of the creators behind the popular films about AMAZON JACK, which have been sold in numerous territories worldwide.

The minibeetle Mini appears in a flea circus with Egon and Dagmar. The flea-girl Miranda bullies Mini and tricks him into interfering in Dagmar’s line dancing so she falls and sprains her foot. Deeply ashamed, Mini runs away and joins a gang of robbers. MINI AND THE MOZZIES is an adventurous journey through a sparkling and colourful universe full of humour, warmth, anarchy and a festive gallery of personalities and familiar situations. It is a glorious yarn overflowing with cheek and verve. The story is peppered with songs, music and humorous features.

MINI AND THE MOZZIES is produced by Marie Bro for Dansk Tegnefilm 2 with support from the Danish Film Institute, in association with DR.

The 65th Berlin International Film Festival runs from February 5th - February 15th 2015.
