Nordisk Film invests in Star Stable Entertainment AB

Nordisk Film invests in Star Stable Entertainment AB, the Swedish company behind Star Stable Online, an online MMORPG adventure horse game for girls. 

Nordisk Film, owned by Nordic media group Egmont, will invest EUR 15 million for a substantial minority ownership share of Star Stable Entertainment AB.  

Star StableOnlineis a vast online multi-player adventure game designed to encourage girls to work together to solve problems and complete challenges as well as explore a large-scale, complex fantasy world from horseback. With more than 14 million registered users in 182 countries, Star Stable is the most popular online horse game in the world, and one of the few online gaming sites targeted specifically towards girls.

Star Stable Entertainment AB is a privately held company founded in 2011 and located in Stockholm with more than 100 employees. With Nordisk Film as a new minority owner, Star Stable Entertainment AB eyes further development and growth.

Nordisk Film is a leading entertainment company in the Nordics within films, TV, cinemas and games. The investment in Star Stable Entertainment AB is part of Nordisk Film’s overall strategy of investing in talented Nordic game development studios. The current deal is the fifth investment so far from the company’s investment unit Nordisk Film Games that since 2017 has acquired minority ownership positions in Stockholm and New York based Avalanche Studios (Just CauseMad MaxtheHunter) and in Copenhagen based studios Reto Moto (Heroes & Generals), Flashbulb Games (Trailmakers) and Multiverse (Kogama.com).
