Yesterday, Michael Noer's gangster drama "Northwest" was selected for Göteborg International Film Festival, and today Rotterdam can announce the film for the festival lineup. The film is selected for the festival's new competition, the Bright Screen Competition, as well as the Bright Future section.

"Northwest" is Michael Noer's second feature film. In 2010, Noer and Tobias Lindholm's "R" was selected for the festival's Tiger Awards Competition. Aimed to support the distribution of films in Dutch cinemas, the Bright Screen Award comes with a guaranteed distribution offer within The Netherlands. The Bright Future section is a platform for first and second works by a director.

"Northwest" is co-scripted by Rasmus Heisterberg and Michael Noer and produced by René Ezra and Tomas Radoor for Nordisk Film with support from the Danish Film Institute.

YouTube phenomenon

Also in the Bright Future programme is Andreas Johnsen's documentary "Kidd Life". For more than a year, Johnsen has followed the young Danish rapper Kidd, who became a national YouTube phenomenon within a couple of months in the spring of 2011.

"Kidd Life" was one of the most popular films on the Danish documentary festival CPH:DOX, where it received a special mention in the Sound & Vision category. The film will have its international premiere at Rotterdam. The film is produced by Andreas Johnsen and Kirstine Barfod for Rosforth and Killit Films with support from the Danish Film Institute.

Marie Grahtø Sørensen's short "Daimi" is selected for the Spectrum Shorts section. "Daimi" is produced by Maria Gry Henriksen for the Filmworkshop at the Danish Film Institute.
