Producer on the Move: Mikael Rieks

29 European producers from 29 countries are handpicked for the Cannes Festival to attend the networking event ‘Producers on the Move 2013’. The Danish producer this year is Mikael Christian Rieks.

From 18th to 21st of May the 29 producers meet a number of important persons working in the European film industry, and they will have the opportunity to present their upcoming projects and brainstorm on future European co-productions.

Mikael Christian Rieks
Rieks studied at the Copenhagen Film & Media School. He began as a television producer in the B&U department at the Danish Broadcasting Company before he in 2003 moved from television to film and began as a producer at Nordisk Film. Rieks formed in 2008 his own film company Koncern Film and began a collaboration with Cosmo Films in 2011. In November 2012, he and his team returned to Nordisk Film with a number of projects.

Rieks has produced Asger Leths Haiti documentary "Ghosts of Cite Soleil", Tómas Gislasons film about cycling "Overcoming", Charlotte Sachs Bostrups family film "Karlas Kabale" and Martin P. Zandvliets two films "Applause" and "A Funny Man". Currently he has projects in development with directors Martin P. Zandvliet, Asger Leth, Paprika Steen, Charlotte Sieling and Niels Gråbøl.

Producers on the Move
The purpose of Producers On The Move is to strengthen the selected producers network. Thus, almost all producers from the Producers on the Move in 2012 are still in contact and are following up on ideas. 17 of last year's 25 participants are already working with 15 co-productions.

Producers on the Move is organized by European Film Promotion, which is also behind Shooting Stars in Berlin. The Danish Film Institute sets the participating producer.
