’The Incredible Story of the Giant Pear’ invited to the Berlin Film Festival

‘The Incredible Story of the Giant Pear’ directed by the trio Philip Einstien Lipski, Jørgen Lerdam and Amalie Næsby Fick is selected to participate in the ‘Generation’ category in the Kplus children’s films competition at the Berlin Film Festival. 

The animation film has drawn 216,000 guests to domestic theatres since its premiere 12th of October, making it the fourth most popular Danish film in cinemas this year. Internationally, the film has attracted a wide audience. According to international sales agency LevelK, the film is now sold to more than 100 countries and territories, including France, Spain, China, Korea, the Middle East and Russia. 

The film ‘The Incredible Story of the Giant Pear’ is based on the popular children’s book under the same name by Jakob Martin Strid. It is a story about the two friends the elephant Sebastian and the cat Mitcho embarking on a maritime adventure to save their beloved mayor J.B. who one day mysteriously disappeares. They scout the sea in their huge pear and during their adventures they encounter pirates, dragons and strange ghosts.

The script is written by Bo hr. Hansen, it is produced by Thomas Heinesen from Nordisk Film Production and Trine Heidegaard from Pop Up Production with support from the Danish Film Institute. LevelK is handling international sales.
