World premiere: THE HOUSE THAT JACK BUILT

14.05.2018

Tonight, THE HOUSE THAT JACK BUILT will have its world premiere at the Cannes Film Festival. And Zentropa has released the trailer of the film.

Around ten o’clock tonight Lars Von Trier, Matt Dillon, Sofie Gråbøl and the entire team behind the movie will be standing on the red carpet in front of the mansion of the festival and thousands of photographers. At half past ten the movie will start, and in the occasion of the world premiere, Zentropa has released the trailer of the movie.

Until today the only live images from the film has been a 20 second teaser trailer. Now the audience finally get a chance to see, what the new epos from Trier is all about:

'The House that Jack Built'

The film takes place in the US in the 1970s. We follow the highly intelligent Jack through five incidents and are introduced to the murders that define his development as a serial killer. We experience the story from Jack’s point of view and how he views each murder as an artwork, even though his dysfunction gives him problems in the outside world. Along the way we experience Jack’s descriptions of his personal condition through a recurring conversation with the unknown Verge – a grotesque mixture of sophistry mixed with an almost childlike self-pity and in-depth explanations of, for Jack, dangerous and difficult maneuvers.

Matt Dillon features as Jack, while Verge is played by Bruno Ganz. A strong female cast includes Uma Thurman, Sofie Gråbøl, Riley Keough and Siobhan Fallon Hogan.

THE HOUSE THAT JACK BUILT is distributed by Nordisk Film Distribution in Denmark and the international sales are handled by Trustnordisk.
