Nordisk Film to film THE CLUB

Nordisk Film has acquired the film rights to THE CLUB, Matilda Voss Gustavsson’s acclaimed book from 2019 detailing sexual harassment and misconduct in a cultural institution with close ties to the renowned Swedish Academy.
Maren Louise Käehne (QUEEN OF HEARTS) will pen the script based on Gustavsson’s book. Matilda Appelin (BEFORE THE FROST, BLIND SPOT, A PERFECTLY NORMAL FAMILY) will produce.
Matilda Voss Gustavsson is a journalist with Swedish newspaper Dagens Nyheter. In 2017, she published an exposé where 18 women came forward detailing rape, threats and harassment centered around a prestigious club lead by a well-known cultural profile and attracting members of the Swedish Academy. The revelations became an important part of the global Me Too movement and crippled the Swedish Academy which has awarded the Nobel Prize in Literature since 1901.
In THE CLUB, Gustavsson digs deeper into the story of the cultural institution Forum and continues her investigation of power in the world of art. She details the major internal conflicts in the Swedish Academy and the trial where the cultural profile was convicted of rape. Now this story is turned into film.
